It’s harvest time in the valley, especially for the fall harvest of grapes. Cannie and I are part of Red Rooster Winery’s Adopt-a-Row Club. We joined 80 others in Naramata, BC last weekend to pick grapes, enjoy their newly released wines and renew acquaintances with winery staff and fellow members. In spite of a cool, drizzly day we had a great time working the vineyard. After picking, we watched winery staff mechanically crush and de-stemmed the grapes and start the fermentation process in large stainless steel tanks. We began this adventure last spring when we pruned our row of Malbec grapes and cleaned up the vineyard. We have enjoyed learning about vitaculture especially the drinking part.
