Happy Endings.   I spent my younger years in Creston, B.C.. Our valley was best known for orchards and beer.  We had the largest fruit growing area outside the Okanagan in western Canada and we are home to the Columbia Brewing Company best known for Kokanee brand of beer.  This is where those two ideas come together.  This photograph is a former packing house that was used to store fresh fruit before being shipped by truck and rail to customers out of the valley.  Visiting the location today, you will see that the structure is now used as cold storage for the brewery.  Where thousands of apple bins once overflowed, now stands hundreds of rows of beer kegs.  One can’t help but be conflicted by this story.  I love fresh fruit and support local farming but….
