Getting on the trail early rewarded us with a low angle of light into Pyramid Lake. The water was so clear that you could see the fish swimming by and coming to the surface to feed. We continued hiking and a few hours later I was on the bluff at the top left of the photography looking back down to the lake. Many of trees on the right are dead or dying from insect infestations that have hit the park hard. Fires and infestations are part of the natural life-cycle of the forest but we never like to see an area devastated especially in such a beautiful park.
